    The book is a pleasure to read and a significant contribution to the global history of community service., Thanks to Sickinger's faithfulness to his authentic subject--which is to say, the man himself, not the image of the man--this book is sure to become the definitive biography of Ozanam for decades, if not longer.   This book, which may be read free online, places Ozanam in the context of Paris in the first half of the 19th century, a difficult time for Catholics, and a desperate time for the poor.
